Junior Designer, Potter Craft (Random House, Inc., New York NY)

Potter Craft, a book publishing leader in knitting, crocheting, sewing and needlecraft titles of all kinds, will expand our list of titles with other popular craft topics as the company continues to grow. Potter Craft seeks a Junior Designer to work with the Creative Director and the Art Department. You will be responsible for: book design development and desktop production; meeting the administrative, creative and technical design needs of Potter Craft's art department; designing book interiors, jackets, covers and promotional materials for division’s titles; the care and tracking of all original art; liaising with various departments to follow up on design requests and to create art logs. Additional responsibilities include assisting with the creation and distribution of visual materials and general office support.

Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years illustrated book experience as a designer. Requires a detailed-oriented, independent person who will be comfortable working with original art and electronic files. Ideal candidate will have excellent design and communication skills. Knowledge of Quark , Photoshop, and Illustrator a must.

Since When do they have a Mac Skype?

Who knew? I must have missed it - Skype is cool - free phone calls through your computer - it's been around for a while but last time I checked there wasn't a Mac version - now there is. I added a skype me link to the navigation at the top for whoever has skype - a better place to call than my office...
