Mental Health America of Roanoke Valley and United Way of Roanoke Valley are hosting Community Grief Gatherings to give people from the Roanoke area an opportunity to come together, share their feelings and reactions related to the Virginia Tech tragedy, and begin the process of healing. Discussions at the gatherings will be facilitated by mental health professionals, but individual counseling will not be provided.

Gatherings will be held from 7:00-8:30 p.m. on April 19 (Thursday), April 24 (Tuesday), and April 26 (Thursday) at each of the following three locations:

Friendship Retirement Community Residents' Center

397 Hershberger Road, NW, Roanoke (corner of Florist and Hershberger)

Second Presbyterian Church Chapel

214 Mountain Avenue, SW, Roanoke

Lewis-Gale Center for Behavioral Health Pavilion Gymnasium

1902 Braeburn Drive, Salem

If response to the nine scheduled gatherings indicates a need for more sessions, additional gatherings will be offered in the coming weeks.
